The Cheshire & Merseyside
Simulation Centre is a state of the art educational facility
that provides healthcare education to both pre and post-registration
healthcare professionals across the north west.
The centre consists of
various clinical areas within which are located robotic patient
simulators such as Meti's High fidelity HPS
(Human patient simulator) and Laerdal's SIMMAN.
These high tech simulators allow multiprofessional teams to
become immersed in realistic scenarios within which the outcome
is dependent upon their abilities to treat the patient effectively
and display effective and dynamic teamwork skills.
The centre is able to
replicate Theatre, Critical Care, A&E and Ward based scenarios
as well as Obstetric emergency training.
Simulation has been utilised
by the Aviation industry for over 40 yrs in an effort to ensure
that flight crew are effectively prepared to deal with emergencies
should the unthinkable occur. Healthcare can now benefit from
similar technology as a way of improving practice outcomes
and improving the patient care experience.
